Title: Operation RSFA
Rating: G
Characters: Dawn, Willow, Andrew
Summary: Dawn is devious.  Willow and Andrew are her minions.  Buffy and Spike are the marks.  900 words.
Setting: Late summer 2004 in England.
Disclaimer: Characters are not mine, they belong to Joss, etc, etc.

A/N: This is a little…strange?  I thought of the dialogue while running on the treadmill and couldn’t resist.  I also wrote it between 11 PM and 1:00 in the morning, if that tells you anything…

Dawn looked from one cohort to the other, her face solemn. "Ready to begin?" )

Title: For Want of A Back Porch (Alternate Ending)
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: These characters belong to Joss Whedon, and I am making no money, etc., etc.
Summary: Buffy used to worry that she couldn’t love. After Twilight, she's afraid to love. But can she and Spike just be friends? Buffy, Spike, and their balcony, with a side of Dawn and Xander. 5,500 words. Part I. Part II. Part III. Part IV-Original Ending.
A/N: This alternate ending exists because I can't help thinking that after Spike's untimely death in "Chosen," Buffy wouldn't waste a second in telling him she loved him if she had a second chance.  I posted my original ending because I love Dawn being bossy and proactive, but I also wanted to explore this second possibility where Buffy is proactive.  The new stuff starts in the MIDDLE of this post, when Buffy and Spike wake up in the morning.  The first half duplicates Part IV because I wanted each chapter to be able to stand on its own.

Summary:
Buffy used to worry that she couldn’t love. After Twilight, she's afraid to love. But can she and Spike just be friends? Buffy, Spike, and their balcony, with a side of Dawn and Xander.  4,000 words.  Part I.  Part II.  Part III.
A/N: I changed the ending to this yesterday, which is much more impulsive than I usually am, but I thought that Buffy deserved to be more self-aware in the penultimate scene.  I hope it works.  I am considering writing an alternate ending in which Buffy is not only self-aware but also decides to share with the class.  You'll know what I mean, and if you have an opinion on that- such as, which you think is more realistic, would you want to read an alt ending, etc., please let me know.  I might write one just for my own gratification, but it would take a few weeks.

Thank you so much to everyone who has read and commented on previous parts.  Your feedback has been so generous and made me very happy.  This fic kind of poured out of me after #40 (it's been a while since I've felt such an impetus to write write write and tell a specific story), so I'm thrilled that you've enjoyed it.  Thank you.

A/N: You don’t need to have read the comics to read this because I’ve only read issues 36-40, have minimal knowledge of what happened before that, and I wrote the darn thing. Here is S8 in a nutshell for any non-comic person who wants to read this anyway: Buffy and Angel frakked and it led to the apocalypse; Angel killed Giles; Buffy destroyed some mystical seed thing, thereby saving the world but also destroying all its magic; a few months later, she’s now living in San Francisco on Dawn and Xander’s couch. Meanwhile, Spike was a Big Damn Hero and Buffy fantasized about making love to him. It was gorgeous and beautiful (see the icon!) and so much better than the space porn, even if it was only in her head. I’ve set this fic starting about a month after #40 in the autumn; since I don’t know the timeline in the comics, autumn, or the Start of the Television Season, seemed as good a time as any.

Despite my usual flippancy about the comics, I did really enjoy #40 and have tried to write Buffy and Spike as realistically as possible according to the last arc and what I know.  I didn't change them up because of personal preferences.  In other words, they're not the same Buffy and Spike I usually write b/c the comic characters are, I think, very different from the canon TV-show characters.  Lastly, I’m sorry in advance to any diligent comic readers for any comic-related mistakes I’ve made.

And now that I've finished mine, I can go read other people's post-#40 fic!

Confession: I've never actually seen "Seeing Red."
I've watched the attempted rape scene (b/c I don't think you can be a Spuffy fan without seeing/analyzing/acknowledging/whatever that scene) and Tara's death b/c you know...it's Tara's death.  But I knew ahead of time about those scenes, and I was too disgusted with BtVS to watch the whole episode.  That was four years ago, and I've still never felt any burning desire to see it.  I usually don't even remember that I haven't seen it until random times like today, when I saw a post on Buffy Secrets that had me going, "Huh?  That is not familiar at all!"  It's a pic of Dawn in Spike's crypt when she berates him for sleeping with Anya and the caption is, "To me, this is the saddest scene in the episode because it marks the death of their friendship."  And I was thinking, "What the heck is this?  I thought the nail in the coffin of their friendship was when she threatened- with good reason- to set him on fire in S7."  And then I googled a quote from the epi in one of the comments and realized why I didn't have any recollection of the scene.  It pisses me off so much that the writers used Dawn as a catalyst to start the Spuffy trauma in this episode.  One, it's lousy and presumptuous of Dawn because hello, Buffy dumped Spike, no one should be getting on his case about sleeping with Anya, and two, it's such an obvious plot device to get Spike in The Bathroom (she says without ever having seen the episode).  I know that everything that happens in the bathroom is Spike's fault, but I think there's a good chance that the characters never would have ended up in that situation to begin with if Dawn hadn't shot off her big mouth first.  UGH.

In Progress
Rating:
PG-13
Setting: Post-NFA
Summary: Far in the future, Buffy contemplates past jealousies and why she no longer feels them. This was inspired by the prompt “Envy” at [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends, but it grew too long for the comm’s word limit. The fic is set in the same HEA-verse as my other fics: Anya and Cordy are resurrected after NFA, Dru is staked for good in 2005, and Buffy and Spike have a daughter in 2010.  2500 words.

When Buffy sat down at a Council computer and ended the screensaver, Lydia’s dissertation on Spike stared back at her.

She vividly remembered the first and only time she had read it, a decade ago by now. She’d stumbled across it by accident then, too, when looking for a dissertation on Meltzer demons, and she couldn’t help but start to read it, even though she knew she wouldn’t like what she read- even though she thought Spike wouldn’t want her to read it.

I tried to write a drabble and failed miserably, so here's a 122-word ficlet.

His and Hers

Buffy/Spike, of course
Post-series
Willow gives Buffy and Spike a Christmas present.

Faith came up with the name, but it was Willow who ran with it like a marathoner on crack. )

Title: Crystal Clear
Rating: PG
Summary: With bad timing of epic proportion, Buffy waits until Angel and Cordy have gotten together before asking Spike to go back to Rome with her. 950 words.
Author’s Note: This is a snippet of an argument between Spike and Buffy in my post-NFA verse, in which the PTB have brought Cordelia back to life as a reward for Angel defeating W&H. The argument is seriously media res and has no real beginning and no real resolution because while I know what happens in my post-NFA verse…I haven’t actually written it. This is just an argument that popped into my head and demanded to be written, and it would fit into that post-NFA fic somewhere.
Disclaimer: BtVS and all its characters are the property of Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, etc.

Two Buffy fanfics I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy:

Title: Can We Rest Now?
Summary: When the gravity of Spike’s death hits Buffy a few hours after “Chosen,” she goes to Willow for comfort and ponders exactly what she meant when she said those three little words. One-shot, 5300 words.
Rating: R for a bit of bad language.
Disclaimer: BtVS and all its characters belong to Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, etc.

The grief hit Buffy all at once, the second she closed the door to her room in the Hyperion and turned to face the dusty, empty bed.

Title: Superlative
Summary: Who’s the Sexiest Couple in the Scoobies? Buffy and Anya get into an unconventional battle of wills at dinner. Takes place approximately one year after “Not Fade Away,” shortly after Buffy and Spike have officially started dating. One-shot, 1400 words.
Rating: PG-13
Author’s Note: For background information purposes, in my post-NFA verse, Angel and Spike were each given one life as a reward for defeating Wolfram and Hart. Angel chose to bring Cordelia back to life and Spike chose Anya; Willow and Oz are also back together.
Disclaimer: BtVS and all its characters belong to Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, etc.

“Now that you’re official and no longer pretending to hide what all of us knew anyway,” began Anya matter-of-factly, “We need to think of a superlative for you.” She looked at the blondes across the dinner table expectantly, as though this wasn’t a complete non sequitur.
