( Blockquote html is not working, woe )
And making up AU details means having to make up head!canon details first because unsurprisingly, S3's timeline/world-building is awful (GDI writers' strike, you ruined everything) and there's not actually a lot to work with. Like, exactly when did Bela give Crowley the Colt? There were three months between "Dream A Little Dream of Me" and "Time Is On My Side." That's a lot of time to account for. If she gave Crowley the Colt, when did she talk to Lilith and learn about Dean's deal? Did she know about it before she stole the Colt (I am choosing to assume she did not)?
So I've spent far too long going through transcripts of S3 episodes, I've still probably missed details, and I succeeded in making myself very mopey about (a) Bela and (b) Dean going to Hell. Blah.
I hate those days when you're so tired that all you want to do is wait for night to roll back around so you can try to sleep again. Such wasted potential. Like Bela Talbot. So here's a meme:
Stolen from brutti_ma_buoni: Post the first lines of the last 21 fics your wrote.
Adding from snickfic: Post the ending lines, too.
I'm not including my genteensybang fic since it's un-posted, but I am including the first lines of my two current WIP (SPN S8 and a/b/o) because I'm inconsistent that way. And if the first line is dialogue, I'm including as many sentences as the person speaks in the opening rather than cutting them off at literally one sentence.
( First Lines )
( Last Lines )
Give me a character and I'll describe him/her/it in five words.
But also adding a twist, if you'd like, also give me characters from fandoms with which I have no or limited experience, and I'll give a possibly cracky impression based on
I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's Parker ...she likes money and cereal." I'd love it if everyone who's friended me did this. (Yes, even you people who I know really well.) Then post this in your own journal [only if you feel inclined]. In return, ask me anything you'd like to know about me and I'll give you an answer*.
*Providing it's answerable/suitable for public posting.
To all my DW friends, is coding/posting easier to do on DW? Because I certainly can't stand the LJ admin and all the changes they roll out without users' input, but my main gripe recently that has been making me want to switch is that any time I post graphics, I'm always getting extra spaces or no spaces, or coding won't work, etc., etc., etc. Are those kinks on any platform or is DW significantly better in that respect, too?
Now, I know next to nothing about what the day actually means (though here's the Wiki page if you're interested), but I know that when I was little (and when I was in college last year, courtesy of the RAs, so not always that little...) I put out my shoes on the night of December 5th, and when I woke up the next morning, there was candy inside. So the meme:
Comment with a picture of any shoe, and I'll give you a treat. A drabble, links to graphics or vids I think you'd like, a fic rec, pictures of favorite actors, etc.
I won't get to all the "shoes" by December 6th the way good old Nick does, but I promise to do them all eventually!
And if you don't want to go to the trouble of finding a picture of a shoe, I suppose you can have a treat anyway. ;)
And now off to watch SPN and probably have a meltdown of some sort because it's the mid-season finale, and I've never had to suffer an SPN winter hiatus before...
Happy Halloween! It might take me a few days to finish because I'll be working late this week after our office was closed for two days because of Sandy, and I'll be out of town this weekend.
+ Tell me: If I was in a tv show how do you guys think I would get mischaracterized by the fans?
+ I'll tell you: Pick a trope from this list and provide a fandom/pairing and I'll tell you something about the story I'd write for that combination (i.e. write a snippet from the story or write not!fic or tell you the title and summary for the story I would write)
4. huddling for warmth
5. pretending to be dating/married
6. stuck in an elevator
8. meet the parents!
9. forced to share a bed
10. truth or dare
11. historical AU
13. apocalypse fic
14. curtain fic
15. High School / College AU
16. mpreg [my addition because <i>how is it not on this list</i>]
2. Stolen from smells_corrupt andever_neutrall:
Give me a fandom and I shall give you my opinions on (and don't hesitate to ask about books, because let's face it, there aren't a whole lot of popular shows I have seen in their entirety, although you can certainly ask about them anyway):
* Favorite episode and why.
* Campiest / crackiest / it’s-terrible-but-I-still-love-it episode / scene.
* Best episode / scene for my favorite character.
* Best episode / scene for my favorite ship.
* Best episode / scene for minor characters.
* Best episode / scene for my favorite themes / theories / headcanons.
* Overall best-written episode.
ETA: 3. I wasn't going to do this one because I figured I'd see everyone's answers on the original post and it would be redundant, but I see other people doing it, so copying ever_neutral, eilowyn, and snickfic, here goes:
Tell me your favorite thing you've ever written (and why!). Link, please.
Give me the title of a story I've never written, and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, or something else that I want readers to know.
Also, while you're here: What 3 ships do you most associate me with?
Ask me anything to do with animated Disney! Favorite ships, scenes, movies, philosophical questions, whom I would live-action cast or raceswap cast, pick between BLANK and BLANK, anything!
Prompt me, and if it's a movie I'm familiar with, I'll write a drabble.
Relatedly, would anyone be interested in a Disney comment ficathon?
Also, WTH, my icons have been reduced to 6 even though I'm supposed to have 30, so I can't get my Disney icon. *snarl* I think I may celebrate my second fandom-versary this year by switching to DW.
If you could sit me down for a day or whatever and say, "I want you to write this story for me," what would that story be?
Feel free to tell me that what you really want is for me to finish project X that I have posted part of / keep talking about. *g*
Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
My fandoms from lutamira were BtVS, Harry Potter, and Arrested Development.

Which TV shows did you start watching in 2011?
Supernatural (still in S2), TVD (still in S1), Arrested Development (watched it through twice), Community (still in S1). I’m technically still watching Ringer and Once Upon A Time, although I’m behind on both of them and feel little motivation to catch up on either. I started Miranda, although I didn’t finish S1 (b/c I lost track of it, not because I lost interest). I’ve also watched the first two episodes of Parks and Recreation, but so far I am unimpressed (blasphemy, I know). :/
(Does it take a while to get into P&R? It’s amusing, but most of the time I feel like I’m laughing at Leslie Knope in a mean, “she’s so naïve” way, and I don’t like that.)
Which TV shows did you let go of in 2011?
Well, I tried Up All Night and New Girl and was very disappointed with both of them, so I gave those up (might still watch the latter if I’m really, really bored). Technically I gave up Glee in Fall 2010, but I didn’t even try S3 this year. I also “let go” of Hank Azaria and ASH’s Free Agents, but that was involuntary. :(
Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2011? Why?
Pam Am. Deep Space Nine. Didn’t have time.
Which TV shows do you intend to check out in 2012?
Deep Space Nine. Maybe Pam Am, depending on if it gets renewed. Going to watch Downton Abbey as soon as I give S1 to my mother for Christmas and can open it. I really, really want to watch Jason Isaacs’s Awake, so I hope NBC doesn’t crap out on me. Maybe I'll start The West Wing if I get through SPN, TVD, and DS9. I'm also going to watch Game of Thrones after I read the books, but I don't know when that will be.
Which TV show impressed you least in 2011?
Ringer. Castle has also been disappointing me because the will-they-won't-they is becoming seriously contrived- don't mimic Hart Hanson, Andrew Marlowe!!
Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2012 unless things significantly improve?
I don’t think I can let go of anything that I’m regularly watching, no matter how much Bones and HIMYM try my patience. I don't know if I'll watch more of P&R or move past S1 of Community. I might give up Once Upon A Time.
Which TV show impressed you the most in 2011? Why?
Hmmm. I was very impressed by S3 of Castle in the beginning of 2011, and since then it has gone downhill. I was also very impressed by S6 of HIMYM in the beginning of 2011 b/c they handled the storylines of Barney and Marshall’s dads so well. I’m back to being unimpressed, though. I am super impressed by TVD S1. Oh, and Arrested Development is actually the best thing since sliced bread.
Which TV shows do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?
HIMYM, Bones, and The Big Bang Theory. They all try my patience in different ways, but I’ve been with them for so long that I’m going to stick it out TO THE BITTER END. TBBT still amuses me when it’s not being misogynistic, and I still enjoy watching the characters on HIMYM, even if my enthusiasm for their arcs has long since waned. I can’t actually tell you why I’m still watching Bones, though, because I dislike most of the characters and think the writing is stupid. I guess it’s the pregnancy. TO THE BITTER END.
Shows I watched and loved that aren't mentioned on this list because I started them in another year
The Guild S5. I rewatched a few episodes/scenes from BtVS, AtS, and Friends.
