I've pretty much decided that JKR is bad at writing romance.

Yeah. It's funny, though, b/c while she may be bad at the long-term arcs, I think she is good at the little details. For example, though I can't stand Harry/Ginny, I do think his crush on her in HBP is portrayed well (dreams, embarrassed around Ron, feeling violent toward Dean, etc.; the 'monster' roaring in his chest cracks me up), and even though I don't like Harry/Cho as an endgame OTP by any means, I thought it was realistically handled. He's so adorable in POA and GOF when he likes her, and I could definitely relate to him.

I love the nuances with Ron/Hermione in DH, such as Harry seeing their hands close together, like they'd fallen asleep holding them. Almost all of the intimate romantic scenes feel real to me, which makes it even more frustrating when the overall ship doesn't.

I think the worst romance is Lupin/Tonks. That came out of nowhere.
