I've always been impressed with how ably Castle writers reference both history and pop culture/nerd culture. Considering the fabulous Mal Halloween costume Castle wore in S2, it's likely they know about Nathan's BtVS gig, too. That, or hopefully NF was thinking of it. The idea of him not remembering it from BtVS would make me sad.
When Castle (I think Castle? Maybe Ryan or Esposito) said that no man deserved that sort of death, I was thinking, you don't know Caleb... Actually, I was also thinking, this victim was very purposefully trying to rape the woman and had done so to other women before, and you're defending him??
