SPN: Thoughts on 4x07 - 4x16, Part 1

I just watched 4x16 “On the Head of a Pin,” and OH MY GOSH. I have been dreading/looking forward to this episode for days, and I purposefully didn’t do anything else while watching (I normally exercise) because I knew I would need 100% focus and emotional investment and that it would be one of the most stressful episodes to watch. THIS SEASON IS SO GOOD BUT I ALSO WANT TO SMACK IT BECAUSE DEAN CANNOT GET A FUCKING BREAK OMG.
Some bite-sized flailing about the other episodes first, though, because I have really loved almost every episode, and I wish I had written reviews of them:

SPN 3x09-3x13
Jun. 30th, 2012 08:05 pmI really, really like S3 so far. It’s hard to say which season I like best because I watched S1 and S2 in such a disjointed manner, but I feel pretty comfortable saying that I like S3’s arc better than the others’, in spire of it being more emotional than action-driven; in fact, that’s probably why I like it better. Watching the boys come to terms with Dean’s impending damnation, their individual struggles, Sam’s denial and Dean’s self-loathing, satisfies me so much more than the find-John road trip and the find-the-YED arcs in S1 and S2. Plus, S3 just has a ton of creative MOW episodes, not to mention BELA AND RUBY, adflkajdfljadlfjadfjadf!

ETA: I watched 3x14 and 3x15 today, and I ONLY HAVE THE FINALE LEFT, I AM UPSET WITH BELA FOR KILLING HER PARENTS BUT SHE HAD STILL BETTER NOT BE DEAD, DON'T TELL ME ANYTHING, AAAAAHHHHH, I THINK I MIGHT WATCH THE FINALE NOW, TME TO UNWRAP S4.
SPN 3x08: "A Very Supernatural Christmas"
May. 30th, 2012 10:10 amOH MY GOD, GUYS, THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE EPISODE OF SPN.
(Don’t ask me what my previous favorite was because I don’t have an answer.)
(Wait, that’s a lie; “Shut Up, Dr. Phil” was my favorite. However, that remains in a category of its own because it’s only my favorite because of James and Charisma.)
THE FLASHBACKS. The first one, where Dean was kind of rotten to Sam and snarled at him for daring to mention Mary, frustrated me and made me think this would be nothing but depressing. But then we got the second flashback, which was also depressing (Sam finds out that monsters are real and thinks they’re all going to die and refuses to let Dean comfort him) but had the poignancy to make it all worthwhile. AND THEN WE GOT THE THIRD FLASHBACK WHERE DEAN STOLE PRESENTS FOR SAM, PRETENDING THEY WERE FROM JOHN, AND SAM GAVE DEAN THE NECKLACE THAT WAS MEANT FOR JOHN, AND MY HEART EXPLODED WITH LOVE AND JOY.
THESE BOYS. THESE BOYS.
In case you haven’t already noticed, there isn’t going to be any analysis here- it’s really just me flailing.

Supernatural: Croatoan
Feb. 21st, 2012 11:20 pmI watched this episode September 24th last year (yes, I date my episode thoughts), and for whatever reason, I wrote a review, even though I didn't write the reviews for the previous episode and those after it. I guess it's because I really liked "Croatoan" and had a lot of brother feelings about it. Anyway, here it is, written from last fall.

Supernatural: Born Under A Bad Sign
Jan. 21st, 2012 09:59 pmI did not end up catching up with SPN reviews the way I wanted to over break, but I did watch a few episodes this week, and I'm just going to post current reviews. I'll still try to write the missing ones at some point because I'm anal-retentive and I don't like leaving a gap; I have all my episodes notes and the outlines for reviews, I just...never wrote them because of midterms and temporarily losing interest in the show (although for some reason I did write a review for "Croatoan").
