What would Harry, Ron, and Hermione do?

I'm technically working on original fic these days, but I felt like doing this meme anyway because I'm in a good mood because (a) otherwise these tidbits might never see the light of day, (b) I would still love to eventually finish them, and (c) calling them WIP instead of abandoned probably improves their prospects.  The problem is that with the exception of the first, all of these would be well over 10K if I actually wrote them, so I have a hard time justifying the time it would take away from original fic.  /O\  Hopefully if I checked this post a year from now I'd have made progress on at least one of them, though...

Ugh, today has been one of those days where I haven't accomplished anything.  I woke up at 6:25 (on a SATURDAY) because I had to use the bathroom, and once I got back in bed I realized there was a horrible many-legged bug on my ceiling (as I'm in a loft bed, this is much more disturbing than you might otherwise think because t's only about three feet away from my face).  After steeling myself to smash it dead, I was too wound up to go back to sleep, and so I lounged around for a while and then got up to run (6 miles!) before breakfast.  Other than that, I have been woefully lazy and unable to do anything, mostly because I'm so tired that all I want to do is sleep.  I have tried to write, but porny fic is still being stupid, so then I considered working on mpreg fic, only to realize that there were actually many AU details that needed to be figured out first.  They may not all be precisely relevant to the fic, but I am OCD and anal-retentive, so even if the reader does not need to know things like "in this AU, do Dean'n'Sam'n'Bela know that Lilith holds Dean's contract in March," I need to know them.

And making up AU details means having to make up head!canon details first because unsurprisingly, S3's timeline/world-building is awful (GDI writers' strike, you ruined everything) and there's not actually a lot to work with.  Like, exactly when did Bela give Crowley the Colt?  There were three months between "Dream A Little Dream of Me" and "Time Is On My Side."  That's a lot of time to account for.  If she gave Crowley the Colt, when did she talk to Lilith and learn about Dean's deal?  Did she know about it before she stole the Colt (I am choosing to assume she did not)?

So I've spent far too long going through transcripts of S3 episodes, I've still probably missed details, and I succeeded in making myself very mopey about (a) Bela and (b) Dean going to Hell.  Blah.

I hate those days when you're so tired that all you want to do is wait for night to roll back around so you can try to sleep again. Such wasted potential.  Like Bela Talbot.  So here's a meme:

Remember the Halloween meme where you gave everyone who commented a little gift, like a drabble or a graphic, etc?  Well, that was awesome, and even though that was barely a month ago (and I was super late and actually only finished mine on Veteran's Day weekend, so it hasn't even been a month for me), I wanted to do something similar now because it seemed fitting for Saint Nick's Day.  'Tis the season and all.

Now, I know next to nothing about what the day actually means (though here's the Wiki page if you're interested), but I know that when I was little (and when I was in college last year, courtesy of the RAs, so not always that little...) I put out my shoes on the night of December 5th, and when I woke up the next morning, there was candy inside.  So the meme:

Which TV shows did you start watching in 2011?

Supernatural (still in S2), TVD (still in S1), Arrested Development (watched it through twice), Community (still in S1).  I’m technically still watching Ringer and Once Upon A Time, although I’m behind on both of them and feel little motivation to catch up on either.  I started Miranda, although I didn’t finish S1 (b/c I lost track of it, not because I lost interest).  I’ve also watched the first two episodes of Parks and Recreation, but so far I am unimpressed (blasphemy, I know).  :/

(Does it take a while to get into P&R?  It’s amusing, but most of the time I feel like I’m laughing at Leslie Knope in a mean, “she’s so naïve” way, and I don’t like that.)

Which TV shows did you let go of in 2011?

Well, I tried Up All Night and New Girl and was very disappointed with both of them, so I gave those up (might still watch the latter if I’m really, really bored).  Technically I gave up Glee in Fall 2010, but I didn’t even try S3 this year.  I also “let go” of Hank Azaria and ASH’s Free Agents, but that was involuntary.  :(

Pam Am.  Deep Space Nine.  Didn’t have time.

Which TV shows do you intend to check out in 2012?

Deep Space Nine.  Maybe Pam Am, depending on if it gets renewed.  Going to watch Downton Abbey as soon as I give S1 to my mother for Christmas and can open it.  I really, really want to watch Jason Isaacs’s Awake, so I hope NBC doesn’t crap out on me.  Maybe I'll start The West Wing if I get through SPN, TVD, and DS9.  I'm also going to watch Game of Thrones after I read the books, but I don't know when that will be.

Which TV show impressed you least in 2011?

Ringer.  Castle has also been disappointing me because the will-they-won't-they is becoming seriously contrived- don't mimic Hart Hanson, Andrew Marlowe!!

Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2012 unless things significantly improve?

I don’t think I can let go of anything that I’m regularly watching, no matter how much Bones and HIMYM try my patience.  I don't know if I'll watch more of P&R or move past S1 of Community.  I might give up Once Upon A Time.

Which TV show impressed you the most in 2011? Why?

Hmmm.  I was very impressed by S3 of Castle in the beginning of 2011, and since then it has gone downhill.  I was also very impressed by S6 of HIMYM in the beginning of 2011 b/c they handled the storylines of Barney and Marshall’s dads so well.  I’m back to being unimpressed, though.  I am super impressed by TVD S1.  Oh, and Arrested Development is actually the best thing since sliced bread.

Which TV shows do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?

HIMYM, Bones, and The Big Bang Theory.  They all try my patience in different ways, but I’ve been with them for so long that I’m going to stick it out TO THE BITTER END.  TBBT still amuses me when it’s not being misogynistic, and I still enjoy watching the characters on HIMYM, even if my enthusiasm for their arcs has long since waned.  I can’t actually tell you why I’m still watching Bones, though, because I dislike most of the characters and think the writing is stupid.  I guess it’s the pregnancy.  TO THE BITTER END.
