I don't think it's an accident that Buffy and SPN has such an overlap in audiences/fandoms. Like you say: arcs! And character continuity/development!

So, personal story: "Playthings" is the ep in which I decided I was interested in Sam. You know when he gets all morose-drunk? Yes. It's the dumbest thing, but I was like, "Oh. Sam's got issues, too. Sam has vulnerable spots, too!" And it made all the difference. So Playthings has particular character significance for me. *g*
I’m so excited that I have five more seasons.

I haven't loved a show this way since Buffy. This is definitely the next after Buffy of Shows I Really Care About. A Lot.
