Whoops, I think I didn't articulate myself clearly. I don't think you're arguing there wasn't homophobia, my point is that it's fandom that doesn't need to be trying to prove these details (even if this is just an entertaining coping mechanism), because the one thing everyone should be agreeing on is the homophobia. The cause is really the only thing that matters here, the rest of it doesn't make a difference IMO.
