Ron/Hermione or Han/Leia?

Date: 2012-01-19 06:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gryfndor-godess.livejournal.com
Ooh! Interesting choice!

I have to say Han/Leia because much as I like Ron/Hermione in theory, there are a lot of things about what we actually see on page that bug me. Han/Leia is one of those ships that makes me feel romantic and gooey inside without reservation. I like epic, emotional roller coaster relationships, but sometimes I just want something happy, and that's Han/Leia for me.

ETA: Okay, I'm curious about what you would answer because you're so passionate about R/H but H/L is Han/Leia. :D

I have to agree with you! Mostly because Star Wars fandom was my fandom for so many years of my life. Intense, intense years. So gotta go with them!

:) This makes me want to reread my Junior Jedi Knights books, my only childhood foray into Star Wars fandom.

Awww! Anakin and Tahiri! I actually didn't read those, because they were a little below my reading/interest level by the time I got into the books, but let me tell you: I was all about the Young Jedi Knights. Jaina was a BIG DEAL for me!

I think JJK were some of the first books I read in which the narrative felt epic and bittersweet, like there was a series-long arc and I didn't know how happily it was actually going to end.

Never checked out YJK, but I wish I had!

You can only bring back one. Anya or Cordelia?

Ack! You are slightly evil! I like it. *g*

Anya.

I didn't care for Cordelia's characterization in AtS S3 nearly as much as I appreciate Anya's growth in S7. I might also care about Anya/Xander more than Cangel. *feels guilty, like I'm betraying real people*

And what would you answer? :D

I agree with you about Anya's S7 growth, for it a wonderful and beautiful thing. But I think I would rather bring Cordelia back. Anya's story felt finished enough that I'm not angry she died, just sad; Cordelia didn't feel finished so besides being sad about it, I'm also angry. So I would bring her back just to give her a more satisfactory story.

But I prefer your version of things where they're both around :D

Oh, that's a good point about "fixing" Cordy's storyline. Her "arc" definitely infuriates me.

:D

But then you need another qualifier: Bring back Cordy - but on BtVS, instead of AtS! (On AtS, she'd just get fridged in no time, again!)

;-)

But then how would we get Cordy/Angel??

We should just bring everyone from AtS back to BtVS, especially Fred and Gunn. The Scoobies and Fang Gang can all be one big happy family. :D

Yay! :D

(Although i must confess i can only envision Cangel when imagining Angel with a ball gag and Cordy with a whip... i'm sorry for my dirty mind!)

Dawn and Conner?

Dawn! Much as I sympathize with Connor and understand why he does what he does in S3 and S4, I don't actually like him/enjoy watching him that much until S5. If it were S5!Connor vs. S5!Dawn, I might pick Connor, though. :)

Buffy/Spike vs. Angel/Cordy. Tell tell.

Oh, Buffy/Spike without a doubt. I love the idea of Angel/Cordy much more than the execution of their relationship (kyrumption, S4, etc.), whereas I love both for Spuffy. My appreciation for Cangel is strong but low-key and much more based in personal head-canon than is Spuffy, which evokes ridiculous amounts of passion in me.

AGREED. I ship Angel/Cordy only theoretically (my satisfaction with their canon r/ship comes to a grinding halt at the end of S3...), but Buffy/Spike is PERFECT TO MEEEE. (Well, not PERFECT, but engages me consistently.)

That's pretty much where they lose me, too (although I guess S3 basically is the end of their canon relationship, except for YW, because that ain't Cordy in S4...), and I'm not even that crazy about Cordelia's individual characterization starting probably in mid-S3.
